NET-A-PORTER.COM joined us on the ground in Sydney last week during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia for a visit packed full of media introductions, stylish soirees and local design talent.

Kicking off with a pre-Fashion Week pick-me-up for digital media and bloggers at The Ivy Penthouse, NET-A-PORTER talked current season must-haves over manicures and cocktails.

Meanwhile buyers Linda Ayepe and Octavia Bradford charmed Australian media making time for shoots and sharing style insights whenever we could steal them away from showrooms and shows.

Seeing the week out with a bang, the fashion pack got a chance to let their hair down at our chic cocktail event with NET-A-PORTER at Ananas Bar & Brasserie. Flight Facilities returned home from their international tour just in time to guest DJ on the night.

Abstract, vivid and so fresh. It was everything we’ve come to expect from Gary Bigeni and more at his spring summer 2013/14 presentation Alignment.

A collaboration with artist Matthew Johnson saw the artwork literally jumping off the walls as models wearing the prints mingled with guests while Gary charmed the polka dots off everyone.

Amongst the rich and serene surroundings of newly opened Arida Gallery, MCMPR collaborated with anu designer Anita Ben for an intimate day of Autumn Winter 2013 showings with key fashion media.

On a recent trip to Jaipur, Anita was inspired by the silhouette of palm leaves in her hotel garden and the delicate sound of a light morning breeze passing through, which form the foundation to her ‘Sounds of Palms’ winter offering.

Anita played the melodic, modern Sanskrit ballads of Nitin Sawney and was ever the delightful host charming guests as she presented the collection.

MCMPR joined forces with the Strand Arcade this week to host its Evening With Our Designers event and launch the latest campaign staring model-of-the-moment Nicole Pollard.

The majestic shopping destination was pulsing with activity and we brought together some of Australia’s biggest names in fashion including Lover, Alex Perry, Lisa Ho, Manning Cartell, Romance Was Born, Gary Bigeni and Ellery.

Performing live, Clare Bowditch wooed guests with her enchanting sound and won our hearts by being divine to work with.

Sixth Sense

We’re drawn to Anu’s modern expression of India. Influenced by the rich cultural kaleidoscope of this beautiful country, designer Anita Ben can’t stay away. We don’t blame her.

Translating the sensual experience of India through the label’s signature embellishments, prints and colour; we asked Anita what sights, smells, sounds, textures and tastes inspired her on her latest visit to Jaipur.

Sight – A local woman, carrying grass atop her head casually catching up with a friend in the street. The colours and textures made me stop.

Smell – Ghewar is a specialty sweet desert in Jaipur, this is made on every street corner and the smell is delightfully sweet.

Sound – One rings a bell upon entering a temple and this is can be heard throughout the streets of Jaipur. The sound is especially beautiful during the priests early morning prayer, when all the temple bells chime together.

Texture – The markets hold a myriad of textures. Bangles, homewares, embroidery, it is never ending.

Taste – Hot spicy street snacks that are filled with flavour; lentils, puffed rice, peas, chilli, peanuts with fresh lemon juice squeezed over the top. Each vendor has his own unique and equally delicious version.

Style Me 'Paree'

She is Australia’s most sought-after blogger and Romy Frydman is certainly keeping us busy as requests to work with StyleMeRomy.com come flooding in.

Most recently Europe called and MCMPR had Romy jet setting over to France for the 163rd Prix de Diane Longines races in Chantilly. Not one to stay idle, Romy also visited designer Martin Grant’s studio in Marais and shot a lingerie editorial at the Hotel Saint Vincent in Paris while she was there.

Then it was straight to London for a shoot with luxury online retailer Matches and hanging out with old friend and Harper’s Bazaar UK fashion director Gabriele Hackworthy in her divine London home.

It’s a lust-worthy job to say the least.
